Temple Bells

There’s a vision in my mind of a clear and open sky

And two heartbeats ringing clear as temple bells

And the warming sun illuminates the sleepy summer fields

It’s heat is softened as a gentle breeze dispels

It’s a time when we are innocent – untainted by our age

We love as free as children singing simple songs

I can see us there embracing in the grasses of that field

Indulging in that love for which we longed

And those temple bells ring sweetly across those open fields

In harmony as true as lover’s hearts

But as I reap the harvest that my dreamer’s dreaming yields

My idyll world begins to come apart…

For the temple walls have crumbled and summer is long past

And our innocence is jaded by our wounds

Our soaring hearts have tumbled and lovers hopes have crashed

Those colored dreams faded all too soon….

Those temple bells are but an echo though still I hear the song

It haunts me like the ghost of lovers schemes

Those chords ring bitter sweetly - the vibrations linger long

Those golden tones still weave like dancers through my dreams

I hear the temple bells

Those two hearts beating

I hear the temple bells

The song is fleeting…..

I hear the temple bells

Those two hearts beating

I hear the temple bells

The song is fleeting…..
