Child Inside
Somewhere inside you there still lives a child
She quietly weeps in the dark
You cannot release her
Yet you cannot heal
And it leaves you so hollow and stark
No one can touch her
No one can come near
She keeps her secrets with lock and key
She’s the good little girl
But bound to her fear
She is still hiding – she’s hiding from me
Who will this little girl trust
Somehow she knows that someday she must
The hands that took childhood away
How can we consign that to yesterday?
I see a woman so fine and fair
I am a man with a love to share
I can love that little girl too
I see the beauty inside you
Inside you
