A Song for Us

We were lying in the afterglow

She whispered tender in my ear

Words so healing – she spoke her feelings

She spoke the words I longed to hear

She said her love was like the rising sun

She was afraid but still she knew

That she was not the only frightened one

Could not deny what her heart knew

I said I’d waited for so long for her

A thousand unrequited nights

My heart disconsolate had known her silhouette

Here now, I recognize her light

We came together by the winds of chance

seeds of dandelions blown

We lay together as the candles dance

Sharing a refuge of our own

She said her love was like the rising sun

She was afraid but still she knew

That she was not the only frightened one

Could not deny what her heart knew
